Try going down a steeper hill ! Being a 20 yr old car... I'd suggest that ya be happy she's running & do ALL the maintenance. =^ )

While some would go radical. I would suggest that you keep it as stock looking a possible and make modifications that will increase performance and handling that only a trained eye would look for.

Keep ground effects simple and understated.

Things such as drilled and slotted rotors, lightened fly wheel, a low restriction air filter that fits in the stock air cleaner box. When selecting tires and wheels pay attention to the weight. Some of the worse looking rims will yield the best results. See page 106 of "Chassis Engineering" (Herb Adams).

If you do not need an accessory take it out (A/C comes to mind and P/S if you can find a arm-strong unit). Under-drive pulleys also come to mind.

Enjoy the ride and learn how to make the most of what you have. You are not lacking in the engine compartment stock (if the engine has been freshened up) so work on you driving skills. Sign up to take some driving courses like SCCA offers for novice drivers to compete at sanctioned races.

Oh, it's a RX-7 FC huh?

Go for a better exhaust header and extractor. You may try a new bullet too, but don't go for straight pipe. Make sure you tune the back pressure rightly.

By the way, take care of the intake. Just make sure to keep your turbocharger air filter clear always. Change a more efficient spark plug and the wiring. And go for a high flow intake header if you afford.

Next, you may have a tougher camshaft and crankshaft. You may also try a stronger boots twin turbocharge, and touch your piston.

More deep into the system, I'll go for the flywheel, pressure plate and the clutching system. And a gearbox.

More, is there any Dyno tuning nearby your hometown. It's really help much after you've modify your car.

Your car's engine bay would gladly accept a lt1 or an ls1. There are many write-ups on this, and a few guys from here who have done it and know where to go:

Because adding a CIA, Catback Exhaust, and getting lighter rims will only get you so far with a rotary....

your car have some good yrs on it so if you rebuild it you will get all those HP looses by the pass of the years

you can add a good headers and complete piping

with a ignition box MSD 6AL will gain 5HP but it will help you with the mpg, a good and improve idle too and if you plan to do it turbo the msd will launch the HP up to 18HP because it will burn a lot better the turbo combustion
