Hi I own a 1993 Mazda Miata and long story short, I tried to turn the wheel while the car was off and while I turned the wheel it locked. I could no longer try and move it either direction. I then tried to turn on the engine and nothing. I can't even turn the key at all it's also locked.. I'm at least parked correctly but I need some help on how to get my car unlocked please it's a race against time from streetcleaning!

First insert your key and turn the key so the electrics are on

Then turn the steering wheel firmly toward the direction you locked it, and when you feel it loosen, reverse it back to the correct position.

As long as the key is inserted, the steering wheel can be turned back to the right place.

Don't worry, the engine isn't locked, it's a steering wheel lock feature introduced for safety and security reasons.

Another method: while turning the key, turn the steering wheel at the same time in the direction it was locked, then it will unlock and loosen.

Easy, put the key in the ignition. While trying to turn the key, try to turn the steering wheel at the same time. Make sure you do them at the same time.

Just wiggle the steering wheel while turning the key.
