As you have a 84-85 GSL-SE with a 13B engine (all 13Bs are fuel injected since 1984), this makes it much easier to pin down. While I've not tinkered around with a FB before, the similarities to the early FC cars (86-88), my area of expertise, are considerable. Please keep this in mind when reading the following.
Is this an intermittent fault or does it consistently behave in this manner? If this is intermittent, then the culprit is a bad ground due to age/corrosion/etc. RX7 Club forum admin Aaron Cake has written a detailed article on correcting these properly. If it is consistent, have you checked all of the underhood fuses, specifically the ones labeled EGI? If they are good, that means the ECU is getting power. Please note that if the injectors are firing as you stated, your ECU is receiving power and ground as it needs both to function.
With this in mind, my gut feeling says the issue lies in the ignition system. Be sure to check the ignition fuse as well. No power to the coils means no spark. FBs use a distributor while the FC revised the system for use of a Crank Angle Sensor. Before looking at this, the proper approach would be to examine your spark plugs first. Clean them with a wire brush if they have chunks of carbon on them. Doing this one at a time will ensure you don't mix them up. I am guilty of this as well.
Next, ensure that your plug wires are connected to the proper terminals on the distributor cap. This information can be found in the Factory Service Manual here: http://foxed.ca/rx7manual/manuals/
